Artists’ Watercolor Paint Set 24 Colors In Tubes 15 ml/0.5 oz

VARIETY OF COLORS – 24 stunning watercolors for artists:

  • yellow hues – Permanent Lemon Yellow, Yellow Medium;
  • orange hues – Permanent Orange, Vermilion;
  • red hues – Permanent Red Light, Madder Lake Deep, Permanent Red Violet, Light Oxide Red;
  • green hues – Permanent Yellow Green, Hooker’s Green Deep, Olive Green, Sap Green, Phtalo Green;
  • blue hues – Cobalt Blue, Phtalo Blu, Ultramarine Deep, Cerulean Blue, Permanent Blue Violet;
  • brown hues – Yellow Ocher, Burnt Umber, Vandyke Brown, Burnt Sienna;
  • black and gray hues – Ivory Black, Payne’s Grey.

One can mix them to obtain additional hues and, thus, expand the collection of colors.

LIGHTFASTNESS – all colors have from 2 to 3 stars out of a 3-stars rating system. Two stars are ranked even higher because they guarantee that the brightness of one`s artwork will last for more than half a century. Three stars stand for 15-50 years during which the painting keeps its natural look without fading. It is quite enough for watercolors, which require very careful storage due to the susceptibility to fading. Under normal storage conditions, you can preserve your work for a long time and even pass it on from generation to generation. Besides, even being exposed to direct sunlight, it can resist fading.

STUFF – watercolor consists of two major components: blinder – gum arabic and pigments, which are finely ground. High-quality pigments guarantee color saturation, which makes the artwork brighter and more colorful. This way, the color becomes purer, and the images look more realistic.

TRANSPARENCY – this feature as well as the opaqueness of watercolor are of great importance for the artist since taking these details into account, one can create unique effects. In this set, all paints are transparent except for a few ones: Cobalt Blue, Burnt Umber, Payne's Grey, Ivory Black, and Vandyke Brown, which are semi-opaque; Light Oxide Red is opaque, in turn.

QUALITY – pigments are pure while gum arabic is of high quality. The key objective of such a collection is to help artists bring their out of box ideas to life, enjoying the whole process. The colors are vibrant and strongly pigmented. The stuff itself is not toxic and does not pose any threat to one`s health. The quality is good enough to present this set as a gift for both: amateurs and experienced artists. Tubes can be taken anywhere because they are portable. One can paint in watercolor wherever he desires – seashore, art studio, mountain heights, or a rooftop.

I really love these paints !!! They’re amazing for the price, they come with lightfast and pigment information, and they granulated beautifully!! Highly recommend. Only thing was the cerulean blue was hard in the tube.

Walter Pierluissi 01.10.2024

I am from Indianapolis Indiana and recently I have purchase the 24 tube set in Amazon Prime a little while ago. I have been using it and found that the vibrancy of these watercolors are fantastic, they performed beautifully over the paper, I like them pretty much... Still have to test the lightfast but looks like they will perform pretty well on that area too.

The Thrifty Apprentice 01.10.2024

This is probably one of the best quality paints I have used. Now although the company presents the paints as an artist product I had to question that for the paints cracked pretty bad when dried down in a palette from the tube. Other than that I had absolutely no complaints at all about these paints. As a matter of fact, they are now the paints that hold the spot for my go to paints. These are the most vibrant and saturated budget paints I have worked with up to this point. Most of the colors are super transparent making them a excellent paint for layering. They included color name, color number, pigment number, transparency ratings, and lightfast ratings. The paints react super well to salt in a wet was, and they will also lift pretty well. The pigments are finely ground so there isn’t much granulation other then in the ultramarine deep which is pretty common with PB29 or any paints mixed with the PB29 pigment. I highly recommend these paints.

I had seen a few paint influencers demo this brand of paint a few times and do lightfast tests on it. Everything looked pretty good, from the selection of colors, the big tube size, and the low price. I got this paint set on a lightning deal, but even at its regular price, it is a bargain. While I save my professional quality paint for items that I sell, I thought this set would be a good fit for my urban sketch kit. I had been using the student grade paint that came with my palette for a year and while it was okay; it did not excite me. What a difference there was between the student grade and the Art Whale! The Art Whale colors are transparent and vibrant. Honestly, they are close in quality to my Daniel Smith paints, although I can't vouch for the lightfastness. I've been using them for several months now and simply love them. They make my urban sketching trips fun. Don't let the child's whale on the box fool you. These are excellent paints at a great price. Snap them up.

spanky7 02.26.2025

This was a nice watercolor set...colors for the most part were nicely pigmented and a there's a generous amount in each tube ( I am now doing a light-fast ness test and won't know for a couple months the results but they're supposed to fairly good according to their ratings). However there was an issue with one of the tubes being completely dried out when the set arrived back in October. I contacted the seller and I was promised a replacement tube in December...Im writing this on the 31st...and have not received the replacement or heard from them. This was an issue many buyers had so hopefully they have addressed this issue as have I returned the original set I had and just bought them again . I hope when this set arrives the issue has been resolved because I think the set is definitely worth buying if so! Update: As I was writing the above review the tube of paint that was supposed to arrive to replace the tube that was dried up did arrive. So besides getting a great set of paint far superior to most beginner/student paint you get a very generous amount and you can be confident if there is any problem customer service will be there for you!!! Dont pass up these great paints!

I am not a professional, but I have worked in watercolor for a few years. I have a collection of different paints. It's has become my hobby :) Would I recommend the Art Whale, absolutely- YES!! It's very pigmented, vibrant, mostly translucent colors. Surprisingly, has a lot of single pigment colors. A plus for anyone learning color theory. It is actually one of my go to pallets, yes even over some of my more expensive brands. On the other hand, the CONS when I received my Art Whale paint and started putting it out in a pallet I noticed a lot of binder separation, which can happen with even the best. The Azo yellow ran out like water, never seen paint quiet that watery come out of a tube. Other than the binder separation, I really can't complain about this paint. It's very affordable, behaves as one would expect a good watercolor to behave and is filled with convenience colors. This paint is a win win. I believe there are bad batches sometimes, as with any brand, but in general, this is an excellent quality paint and the price cannot be beat.

Customer 02.26.2025

These are in general very nice and there are a lot of color that are bright, transparent and pop off the page. The things I don’t like are the cool yellow is kind of dull. And the earth colors are lacking as they all have black mixed in, so they’re a bit dull.

KaiDoesArt 02.26.2025

These act a lot like the student grade shinhan and mission gold paints. Theres probably optical brighteners and some colors arent super lightfast but honestly for studies or practice for beginners or beyond this is a really good deal. One color was very dry and hard to squeeze but it seems like its the same color for everyone so it may be that particular formula but the set as a whole is nice.

N. Rice 02.26.2025

I'm enjoying this bargain set of watercolors. The pigments are nicely saturated with decent lightfastness. The selection of colors in the 24 set are nicely balanced and useable. My only issue is one I saw another mention. My tube of cerulean blue was almost dried up and difficult to dispense. Too bad because it is a pretty color and might be impossible to dispense when I need to refill my pan. Update: the company replaced my dry tube of cerulean without complaint!

Customer 02.26.2025

I was a daniel smith girl. Before Daniel smith was invented I was a winsor & Newton girl. I'll never buy either again. First of all, I got 24 15ml tubes for the less than I paid for 15ml tube of Daniel smith. The greatness doesn't stop there. The quality is the exact same as DS and better, in my opinion, than W&N. Not only that, they always stay a bit tacky in my palette almost like M. Graham but without the running our of the pan. So I can use them in a travel palette without concern all while having no concern of damaging my natural hair brushes trying to reactivate paint. Anyone who has anything bad to say about these paints don't know paints. Anyone who says these aren't 5 star must be trying to fool themselves into justifying why they'll spend ten times as much on the same damn thing.

ShwetaC 02.26.2025

I am a repeat buyer of this product. I had the first set and I loved it so much that I decided to buy a backup. They are transparent, glaze well, flow well, easy to blend and dream to work with. If i ever run out of both, I would repurchase happily. They dry well in palette, no cracks but some colors shrink significantly. But since they perform so well and price affordably, I wont hold it against the paint.

weavechem 02.26.2025

These paints are very high quality for the price. They are very vibrant, flow well, and I find myself experimenting a lot because they dont feel too precious. Highly recommended for someone who wants to step up from student grade. The pigments should be lightfast, although I have not done testing on this brand, I have tested the same pigments from other brands, so I would expect them to do well. Anyway, I’m mostly using them in my sketchbook. As others mentioned, I also had a tube with some problems, and Art Whale replaced it right away. Excellent customer service.

Wendy White 02.26.2025

These watercolors are beautiful, and I have found the customer service to be amazing also. My cerulean blue was dried out and the company immediately sent a replacement. I am enjoying these watercolors by painting fresh from the tube. I normally fill my palette and let them dry, but I am using them as fresh paints. The price of this set is so reasonable that I don't feel so "precious" about using them. Their pigments are luscious, and I think comparable to the Mission Gold watercolors. They offer free returns, so try them and see for yourself. I think you will like them also. You have nothing to lose!

Gina Badeaux 02.26.2025

I love the value so much I bought 5 sets very good customer service,i would totally sell my art with these paints ,i dont sell but i would ,its the best deal out there ,ive been painting for 27 years and have bought daniel smith m grahams and mission gold and art whale are my favorites ,for the price i got some on sale ,but 35.00 is still great,when i emailed the company about bad cerulaen they sent me more than enough replacements in less than a week, so good.by the way they put pbk11 in the burnt sienna so awsome, im into granulation.

Jessica G 02.26.2025

These paints are incredible for the price !! Especially after I bought them on sale for ONLY $20!! These paints literally are the exact same as my mijello mission gold pure pigment set ! I swatched some colors side by side, and the granulated the same, and worked the same! I’m shocked ! And the pigments all show to be lightfast ! What the heck ! I worked on both cellulose paper from canson Montval, as well as strathmore 100% cotton paper and it’s honestly amazing on both. Just wow ! Definitely gonna come back again and repurchase in the future!

Pamela R. 02.26.2025

They send this card with the paints for you to swatch out. They come in 15 ml. metal tubes with the pigment numbers listed. Consensus is there may be some error in the labels, but other than that these are remarkable. I rate these as high quality as other professional grade paints that are far more expensive. I hope Amazon will offer individual tubes for purchase down the line as the price will likely go up as demand for these hidden gems increases.

Josh O 02.26.2025

So far so good, popped them open and started trying them immediately. Solid amount of single pigment colors. They seem to be great quality, time will tell when I use them more, but excited to get more painting with them.

Stevelust2001 02.26.2025

These are very nice paints. They seem to be Mijello Mission copies. A great deal for this set. Will buy again.

Mark K. Adkins 02.26.2025

Excellent set of colors and very vivid.. The cerlean of course was like many other comments before but still usable. The colors i swatched out on the included paper. Very nice colors. Good value. As nice as many others i have gotten at much higher cost. Would buy again.

Reviewer 02.26.2025

I am new to watercolor painting but really getting into it. I was using a basic set that comes dry, and wanted to see if I liked the liquid paints better. I purchased a little travel palette that comes with some pans, as well as some additional pans to go along with this set. I chose my colors carefully and dosed out the paint from the tubes, letting them dry for a few days. A minor quibble - one of my blue tubes was already somewhat dry in the tube and took a little effort to flow (probably an issue with capping), but since I dry them out first anyway and re-hydrate them when I paint, this was no real issue. You could, of course, use these right from the tube, in which case it would have been disappointing to get one that was partially dried out already. Once I started painting and mixing with these, I could really appreciate the difference that higher quality paint makes. In my limited experience, I feel these are a little richer than what I was using before - not chalky at all. While my painting is still lousy, that's at least on me and not the materials. I can't say I am an expert here at all, but this is a great way to try out a bunch of good quality tubes of watercolor paint for a very reasonable price.

Cat Martin 02.26.2025

I love watercolor and airbrush as my "painting" hobby - they are very different, but the thing that is similar is the ability to produce nearly transparent, yet glowing and nearly 3-D capability in an art project. This acrylic paint thins beautifully to be used in my airbrush and allows me to build up some gorgeous shading with the airbrush. I did try the watered down colors on a small watercolor page and it looked good as well. These are great for blending, too and would be wonderful for those who like to work with acrylics, straight, for an art project. As for me and my thinned paints, these work very well and I am pleased with the results in either my airbrush or watercolor projects.

StaticRain 02.26.2025

After doing different techniques and different studies, I am impressed with these paints. I was a bit skeptical since its only $30 for 24, 12ml tubes. But after seeing that the tubes have the pigment info, I decided to give these a go. They performed well. The colors were vibrant, mixed well and pretty clean, and layer pretty well. It comes with a good variety of colors and the pigment numbers actually seem to be good with a lot of single pigments! The only thing Ive noticed about these is that I found it a bit easier for a "hard line/edge" to happen when using a good bit of water. But its not too bad and most people wont notice it. Overall, these are really great, (maybe upper?) student grade watercolors. If you're looking for an affordable set of watercolor tube paints and dont want to settle for a chalky pan set but do want a variety of colors where you wont have to mix too much, I reccomend these!

I am very happy with my order of the ArtWhale Artists' Watercolor 24 Colors in Tubes. These are well packaged in a box that is suitable for storage of the tubes between uses. I love using these watercolors because I can add water to make them more transparent. They blend well and do well with blooming on watercolor paper. The paint can be dried on a palette and then later reconstituted with more water. I have the best results using watercolors with distilled water. This is an ideal set for hobby artists. I like the color variety in this set because they work well for me to paint botanical elements like flowers and leaves. I hope that my experience is helpful as you kindly click the button below.

Book Lover 02.26.2025

A delightful set of 24 watercolor paints for beginning artist, students, or hobby painters. It is nice to have a set of paints that you can pull out and use whenever you feel creative. Watercolor is not an easy medium for me, but I do like to try different types of paints. This set is great.

Whidbey Mary 02.26.2025

I prefer watercolor paints in tubes. The colors seem deeper, richer, and they cover better too. The ArtWhale Watercolor Tubes come in a nice array of colors and blend easily to create a plethora of other shades and hues of each. This is a very good mid-priced set of watercolors for beginners and intermediates alike. Would make a nice gift for the artist in any family.

WISHFUL THINKING 02.26.2025

I absolutely love these ArtWhale Artist's watercolors. The colors are so lovely and can be as transparent or as opaque and I want them to be. These are high quality and lovely to work with. While I am an amateur artist I do appreciate high quality watercolors and I am having a delightful time painting with these. Love them.

Lu Family 😄 02.26.2025

These watercolor are very high quality. It comes with 24 different colors and they are very vibrant and of high quality pigment. Colors are easy to mix, not too liquid nor too hard. I love the results that i get by using these watercolors. From my 4 year old to my 12 year old to myself, we all enjoy painting together using these watercolor.

chicmama 02.26.2025

Very nice vivid, bright colors. Easy to use, and great for all different watercolor styles.

Katrina 02.26.2025

As of May 6, I can happily report that it seems the dried out cerulean problem is fixed. Received my tubes today and finished putting them in half pans and they all squeezed out beautifully. No dried out paints in any of the tubes. Woohoo! The swatches of these are so vibrant. Can’t wait to play with them! Get these while you can :D

Marshall 02.26.2025

Great paints for the money... although the cerulean blue was dried out... I reached out to the company about the cerulean and they sent out a new tube right away... fantastic service... So glad that I bought these paints!!

MilsapLuver29 02.26.2025

These are nice watercolors in a little tube. They mix and wash out of my brushes easily and cleanly too. They look nice on the canvas as well. I recommend.

Impish22 02.26.2025

Ok, so there is a problem with one tube, the Cerulean... goodness gracious... you get 24 (23 less the cerulean) colors at just a little over a dollar a tube for almost artist quality paint.!! These are very pigmented and mix beautifully and large tubes... the value is here for sure... get over the one tube that might be problematic because a couple of the other blues come quite close and you can still use the tube if you just fiddle with it a little.. it's still usable, although a bit dry. It's amazing to me that anyone would complain about these paints.. they are great and this is my second purchase! You will enjoy them, I do.. and I won't feel so precious because I absolutely refuse to pay the price for the infamous DS watercolors. Buy them, have fun with them!! I sure am..!!
