I’m very pleased with this gouache. I normally use Holbein tubes, which are on the pricier side. But these are an excellent alternative, especially for beginners on a budget. This is a good set of basic colors, a cool and a warm of each color is included, which is great for mixing. The photo I attached shows some of the beautiful colors I was able to achieve using only these paints and white gouache (not included). If you are ordering these as a beginner, note that you will need to buy white gouache separately (a very necessary color IMO). On another note: These are huge! I was expecting full pans, but these are much bigger. The paint is thick and easy to work with, but I feel that some of the colors are less opaque than others. I was not able to find any information on the lightfastness of these paints, something you should look into if you want your artwork to last.Keep in mind, the containers are not airtight at all. They will dry out after a day or two. Thankfully since these are water-based, they can be reactivated with water (unlike acrylic-based, which cannot). You can reactivate by spraying them down and stirring the paint (preferably with a palette knife, don’t damage your poor brushes!) until you get that nice gouache consistency. If gouache is not reactivated properly, it will act more as a watercolor and will not be very opaque. If this sounds like too much of a pain (which it kind of is, especially for 9 colors), you can put them in an airtight container or add some glycerin or gum arabic to keep them from completely hardening.I am disappointed that the labels came half worn off, some not legible. Additionally, a few of the paints arrived leaking everywhere (the seals don’t do much and the lids barely stay on), thankfully there was still a lot of paint left.I will be recommending these to anyone looking to get into gouache. I wish I knew about them when I started!
