Great Starter Set with Vibrant Colors and Easy Use

This gouache paint set is perfect for beginners and casual artists. The colors are super bright and bold, and I love that each one comes in its own little container with a reusable lid—they haven’t dried out on me yet. Even if they do start to dry a bit, a quick spritz of water brings them right back to life. I do wish the set included black and white to make mixing a bit easier, but overall it’s been really fun to use. I definitely recommend using a paint palette for better control when mixing. It’s way more convenient than traditional tubes and such a great deal for the price!

Daughter loves this type of paint!

Amazing paint! I got this set for my daughter who loves anything art, especially painting. She's never tried this type of paint before, but she loves it now. The paint came in sealed containers and all were fresh and wet. The colors are beautiful and vibrant, and each has its own name. The paint is super thick, so only a little is needed at time, so these should last awhile. I like that they come in resealable containers so they are easier to organize and don't dry out, as long as you fully close the lids. We couldn't believe the amazing quality of the paint, the colors just pop from the paper and they dry so quick. They are easy to blend too. After using this paint, my daughter wants more of it , definitely a winner.

Good for practicing

This is a good set if you are starting with gouache and use it very regularly.- You get all the basic colors-Colors are vibrant and not chalky.- Colors are creamy.- They re-wet nicely but they do crack upon drying. although I do take care to seal them in a different airtight container to slowdown the drying.Things to note:- Titanium white is not as opaque as some other gouache that I have used.- Also these are not the most pigmented so the color mixing doesn't work as great with some of the colors.- Open tubs of paint is prone to cross contamination.- Opening the entire tub leads to drying of the paint faster.- Quality of the paint is student grade and good for practice.

Great student grade paints

I have used different brands of gouache (all student grade), and these paints are very comparable in quality. There are several aspects that set this brand apart from others:- the jelly cups hold 50ml of paint each, which is more than other brands I’ve used- the cups come with lids to preserve the paint for a longer time - my previous jelly paints dried out within a few months, so I am excited to see how the individual lids will impact thisThe paint itself is good quality as well - the pastel colors are vibrant and apply easily. They are a creamy texture and provide smooth coverage, as expected. The only downside is that the cups are loose, rather than being in some type of palette, but this isn’t a huge issue for me. Overall, this set provides a good value for the money, works well, and I would order it again.

Good value for play and experimentation

I don't know how lightfast these paints are, but I got these because they are inexpensive, intended for play and experimentation. They mix well together. From this small set, I was able to make a purple, payne's gray, sap green, burnt sienna and yellow ochre. I ended up buying a separate Art Whale yellow ochre because mine seemed a little too bright once the paint dried. I painted a portrait using a Zorn palette, and I was pleased with the result.I'm on the fence regarding storage. These paints need to be stored in a sealed palette, which require maintenance to keep them moist but mold free, and transferred to a mixing palette when you're ready to paint (if you want to keep your paints clean). Versus squeezing out gouache from tubes as needed. No maintenance. The biggest advantage is that you have all your colors in one sealed palette vs. having to carry a bunch of tubes.
