This is a beautiful set of basic colors. The set includes the primaries, green, classic brown shades and metallic. These thick pigmented paints are going to be fun to use in my projects. I do wish the set included a regular white as that would greatly increase the ability to mix lighter colors from the rest of the well-chosen palette if I want a lighter tint. The little trays are nice if I am very careful. The paint is quite thick and not sloppy, kind of like mayonnaise in texture so it’s not going to spill. I like that I can use up all the paint better than in a tube. I can also scoop a little out with a palette knife. I do hope the tops keep the paint nice for a while. A test shows the paint to be very high in pigment and it colors very well…in fact be careful you don’t get it on things you do not wish to be colored! The paint dries to the expected matte finish. It’s fun to have some gouache to use again and I’m definitely looking forward to playing with these.

I'm relatively new to gouache. This set of nine colors is a good starting set. If you try gouache and like it, you'll want to add to this set with other colors and replenishments for your favorites. Gouache come is a silky thick liquid - no tubes or heavy body that I know of. Only this thick liquid. I'm liking Art Whale paints. Silky smooth, no lumps or grains... just silky paint. Colors mix well and, if you're anything like me, you'll probably need more white and black pretty soon. Since this paint is only thick liquid, make sure to close the cover tightly and buy sets that include a tight-fitting case like this one does to help hold the individual cup covers nice and tight. You can. in theory, re-wet dried out gouache and continue to use it (like watercolors) but I haven't had to try that. Better to keep it sealed and moist as much as you can.

This is a great starter set for your painting. You get a lot sample colors in their own container. Each one has the name printed on the top (be careful, it rubs off easily). Before you open there is a seal on each othe containers. I really love the different colors that you get with this collection. The white pearl is probably my favorite color because of the iridescent shine! My only concern is the lid comes off easily so make sure you put these in a safe place because if they fall, you will spill it and lose the gouache paint

There is a lot of paint in each cup (the product page states 50ml per cup), in 9 nice colors, including 4 metallics in white, silver, gold and, copper. The paint is creamy, covers, mixes, thins and washes out of paint brushes well with water. The paint cups are covered with a thin plastic film underneath the top snap on lid that, because of the container shape, how you have to hold and peel it off, tends to be messy initially. The thin plastic cap snaps onto the paint cup but, I am not convinced that it is totally securely tight or that it will prevent the paint from drying out. Time will tell. I wouldn't toss it into a bag expecting the lid to stay on. Overall, I am pleased with the quantity, quality, value and ease of use of this paint.

I usually paint acrylics, but decided to try out this Gouache watercolor paints. The colors in this set are very vibrant and beautiful. The paint consistency is a little thicker than I thought it would be. Because this is watercolor paint, once the paint dries, applying water causes the paint to rehydrate and allowing it to be moved around if you don't like the end result. Another property about this paint is if you apply it too thickly, it could start cracking when it starts drying. The small containers are perfect -- no paint lost at the bottom of a tube. The lids on each container seal the paint, keeping it fresh for future use. Overall this is an excellent set of watercolor paint at an excellent value for the price!

Overall, this paint is great. I like that the containers resealable so I don't have to own a carrying case and can buy paint ad hoc. This is a great little set to get started in this medium. My only complaint is that so.e of the paint was a bit lumpy when I opened the container. This was remedied with some extra water and a good thorough mixing. I have ordered from this brand before and had 0 issues previously. As someone who uses a lot of paint, this just happens periodically and is not a super huge deal to me.

Nice gel style gouache cups. I like that these cups arrive with a cap. They are still messy to open. The basic 5 colors-yellow, blue, red green and burnt umber are a great choice for a basic urban sketching mixing set, however the metallics are a weird choice to add in there. A white and light blue would have made much more sense- the metallics are kind of useless for making art and sketching. It's almost a great set for urban sketching or even basic en plein air, but the weird addition of the metallics is a bummer. You can do a lot with this even without white and light blue.

I got this set for my art student daughter who loves working with gouache paints. She was really impressed with how thick this paint was. She also loved how vibrant and pigmented these were. She also really loved the quantity provided in the tubs as opposed to the tubes she’s used to working with. There’s no white in this, which was a bit of a bummer for her. She likes to mix colors and that’s hard to do without white. You have to be careful, as the lids pop off really easily. So if accidentally dropped, it could be a problem. This is a really good value for price and I would definitely buy again.

I have wanted to try my hand at using gouache painting. When you start out you want paints that are affordable but work well. These fit the bill. The paint is opaque and buildable. It has the thick creamy consistency that gouache paints are known for. The colors are bright and true. I’ve enjoyed using them.

Even in watercolor painting gouache is used frequently. This is a nice set to compliment my art supply and great to have on hand. Product seems to work well enough.

I'm excited to do my next painting with the colors in this gouache paint set. Each square is packed full and has a nice sealing lid to keep the paint fresh

As expected for the price, simple and good for.my daily painting. Acceptable . Colors are as described .

Very nice, easy to use paints, just not the best paint. Cracks when drys, if you put it on too thick.
