I have using that oil for a more then 2 years. I had the pleasure of find and using this artist oil paint, and I am thoroughly impressed with its performance. The high pigment load ensures that the colors are vibrant and long-lasting, making my artwork truly stand out. The texture and consistency of the paint are perfect, providing a thick, creamy feel that is easy to work with and allows for smooth application. One of the standout features is the mixability of the paint. It blends seamlessly without becoming muddy, enabling me to create a wide range of colors and effects. The drying rate is consistent, which is crucial for layering and blending techniques. Additionally, the paint's lightfastness is exceptional, ensuring that my artwork remains vibrant and does not fade over time. The durability of this oil paint is another highlight. It resists cracking and maintains its integrity, ensuring the longevity of my pieces. Its versatility allows me to experiment with various techniques and tools, achieving different textures and effects with ease. Even after drying, the colors remain vibrant and true to their original hue. The paint offers a good balance of opacity and transparency, depending on the pigment, giving me the flexibility to achieve the desired effect in my work. Lastly, the quality of the binder, typically linseed oil, is top-notch, ensuring the paint's stability and performance.

I bought these paints as a gift for my significant other, who paints as a hobby. He says they are as good a product as any of the more expensive name brands.
Ideal for me as a beginner.

Great price and paint has good texture.
All in all, I ended up liking this set. There's a decent amount of semi-professional grade in these tubes, with 14 out the 18 hues having 2 pigment sources maximum, indicating very good blendability for secondary and tertiary colors. All colors have at least a ASTM of lightfastness rating of II, which is very good. Naples Yellow, Yellow Ochre, Cerulean Blue and White are *semi-transparent*, rather than opaque as indicated on the box. Prussian Blue, Ultramarine and Sap Green are *opaque*, rather than transparent as indicated on the box. These paints are made with slower drying oils. It take about 4+ days in a room of about 77-78 degrees Fahrenheit for these paints to dry to tacky. After about 8 or 9 days, they are dry to the touch. You'll need to use solvents or a alkyd medium to get them to dry faster. The colors Rose, Naples Yellow and Prussian Blue took the longest to tack dry. Be especially careful to thin these with solvent or medium if you used a large amount of them, or your painting may take a lonnnng time to dry. Out of the tube, these paints are smooth and easy to push around the canvas without any additives for flow. Similar other mediums of Art Whale, their hues have an almost candy-like saturation that makes them very vibrant to look at. You'll want a more stiff bristle type to move them around the canvas to avoid blurry edge work. I'd recommend these to beginners just trying out oil painting. Decent value for the price.
This paint set includes 18 different colors of oil paints that come in generous size tubes. While most of the colors had a small foil inside the cap to keep the paint sealed and from drying, a handful of them didn't have one at all. When first using a few of the colors (didn't happen with all tubes) a small puddle of oil that had separated from the color came out when trying to squeeze out the paint. That kind of made a mess and took me by surprise. From what I have seen, this paint dries to the touch in about 48 hours, but thicker application may take longer. This still gives you plenty of time to work on your painting if you need to take a break and come back to still blend. Considering that some single tubes of paint at an art store can cost 5-10+ for one, this is a good value for all 18. It is definitely not a super high quality paint, but is better than beginner grade. Thus, a decent middle of the road option for hobby artists and beginners both.
First and foremost, the size of the tubes is impressive. With 37 ml of paint in each tube, I have more than enough to complete multiple projects without worrying about running out. The large tubes also make it easy to squeeze out just the right amount of paint, preventing any unnecessary waste. The colors in this set are vibrant and true to their appearance. Each shade is richly pigmented, allowing for beautifully saturated colors on my canvas. The heavy body consistency of the paint adds depth and texture to my artwork, and I appreciate how easily it blends and layers. What sets this oil paint set apart is its versatility. Whether I'm working on a landscape, portrait, or still life, the range of colors in this set allows me to achieve the desired effect. From warm earth tones to vibrant blues and reds, there is a color for every project. Furthermore, the quality of these oil paints is exceptional. They have a smooth and buttery consistency that glides effortlessly on the canvas. The paints dry relatively quickly, allowing me to continue working without long waiting times. Once dry, the colors retain their vibrancy and do not fade over time.
What I discovered is that the Art Whale oil paints are decent, but are more oily than my other paints, which are by the brands Gamblin, Daler Rowney, and Williamsburg. This, in my opinion, makes the Art Whale paints quite suitable for the beginner who does not yet know how to care for their brushes properly, or may not yet know about various mediums. What I mean is that the relative dryness of other professional grade paints can be tough on brushes if a person doesn’t know what to expect, and may not know that they can thin things out on their own with specific media. I did attempt to use these paints on a commissioned piece, but I’m kind of sorry that I did, at least for this piece. I really did see a difference when trying to blend and match hues such as earth tones, or other hues found in nature. However, the Art Whale oil paints excelled over the others, in my opinion, when I was trying to paint the colors of the fabric of the clothes people in my portrait were wearing. This, to me, is not an insignificant achievement, and shows me that they do have a place in my studio. Another advantage of the Art Whale oil paint set is the presentation. This is a beautiful, expensive looking set, with very generous sized tubes. They would make an impressive gift for the budding artist.

What a great set for beginners and even more advanced painters! Eighteen thick hefty tubes of paint! Loads of colors! Have fun mixing different shades as you go along! There is more than enough paint for many paintings without worrying about running low. The price for this huge set cannot be beat (especially if you are just beginning and want to try things out before you head to an art store for tubes that cost way more!), These are really fun and the paint goes on with great coverage and is radiant and bright. Whale of a set! (Had to be said! :) ).
Really nice vibrant colors and the tubes have the pigment codes right on the front so you know what you're getting whether it's a pure color or a mix. My only complaint is that they are quite thin. Every color has a consistent texture and is very soft but very thin and semi transparent. They do dry quicker then other oils I have used, some of the earth colors dried to the touch in an hour. They stayed wet on a covered pallet over night.
I just started using these paints and I'm very happy with them. The consistency is somewhat more creamy than other oil paints but to me that's a bonus. It takes less medium to thin them down. The colors are bright and have maintained a nice sheen once dry. The coverage is about the same as other oil paints with or without an added medium. I'll be using these a lot.

Love love love this product! Oil paints are not the cheapest to buy but these value paints are so vibrant and long lasting. I will definitely be buying again.
I am not a painter, but I do like to sip and paint so I decided to get a few tubes of my own paint. The colors are very vibrant even though what comes out of the tube does not necessarily match perfectly to the color on the tube. That is not unusual. From what I can tell, the quality is good and my painting looked fairly good. the colors were great. My daughter, who is an artist, gave her thumbs up for this set for me. The price was very reasonable because the tubes are very full.

I'm a beginner at oil painting, so it's possible I'm overlooking some details, but I think these paints are great. Since these are relatively inexpensive paints, I was afraid that the paints would be low quality, but they were comparable to other better known brands (Winsor & Newton, Gamblin). In this set, there are eight colors which are single pigment...you generally get more predictable color mixing results with single pigment paints. The ten other colors are two or three pigment mixtures, but still work well. This set doesn't contain any cadmium colors, which is one of the reasons why it's inexpensive. The paint consistency was creamy and easy to spread around the canvas. And most of the paint didn't come out "separated". The burnt umber was a bit separated, but that's pretty normal for earth colors to do that. My only complaint is that the colors printed on the tube don't accurately show the paint color. I did a quick little painting just using primary colors (and white + burnt umber) to test out the paint. For my skill level, I'm happy with the results, meaning, the paint didn't "mess up" the painting, my lack of skill did.
Art Whale Oil Paint Set 18 Colors in Large 37 ml Tubes - Oil Paint for Canvas, Heavy Body Paint - Richly Pigmented- Professional Artist Supplies with Linseed Oil for Painting - Ideal for Professionals, Beginners, Students, and Kids I've been painting with oils for about 30 years and I'm finding these easy to work with. The colors are beautiful and the consistency is smooth, easy to mix with medium. I would have liked a wider variety of colors but these blend well.

This is a very reasonably priced set that gives you good quality paints with a good selection of different colors. The paints arrive in a long box which has two removable trays inside. Each tray holds 9 different tubes of paint. Each tube holds a fairly large amount of paint. (See photos) Using the paints, they all blend well and, like all oils, these dissolve with mineral spirits. The pigments all were pretty strong - except for white. White was less so but is somewhat typical to all paint brands for whatever reason. A few of the colors were thicker than others but all seem to be of good quality. A few of the tubes required a bit of kneading to mix up the paint, though, so it didn't come out runny when I opened it. That wasn't a big problem and was easily resolved. Most didn't even require it. All things considered, this is a good set of paints with a good variety of color… and for a good price.

I have just gotten back into trying oil painting recently, so I may not be the best judge of oil paints. This set seems okay. I did have a little trouble with them, which I will mention shortly. The colors are a decent mix. The tubes themselves are a fairly good size, so this would be a great starter set for someone like me trying to get into the hobby. The tubes are easy to open, no mess trying to break in. The tops just screw off. The paints are easy to spread on canvas. They are thick, and I had no issues covering a large area doing a test painting, no going over and over to fill spots. The colors are vibrant and seem good quality. I did have some issues trying to get this paint off my brushes, more than I have with another oil paint brand I had tried. I am not sure if that had something to do with me or the paints themselves, but I would definitely be prepared with whatever you use normally and get the paint off fast. From what I can see, these seem to be okay. I would try one or two other sets probably to get a better feel myself on them, but I had no issues with the paints themselves.

I’ve been using Art Whale products for almost 20 years now and they’re one of the first brands I recommend to anyone who asks. This oil paint set comes in large (37ml) tubes, which is great for professional artists and/or those who paint a lot (great for classrooms too). The colors are rich and the initial consistency of the paints out of the tube is very much like spreading butter. And it also comes in its own storage box, which makes it easy to keep them together. High quality? Yes. Versatile? You betcha. Unique color selection? Um, if by unique, you mean, varied? Then yes. And the colors provided do allow for mixing, so there is that. Very much recommended.

I use oil paints to make washes on miniatures. These oils from Art Whale are deeply pigmented for this purpose and mix easily and smoothly. There's a nice range of colors, each in screw-top 1-1/4 ounce metal tubes with both color and transparency indicators. Made in China, the set is labeled as non-toxic. I didn't notice any irritating odor with any of the colors that I used.
