Used these for a family paint night. I thought the acrylic was excellent quality, not too thick or thin. I was a total dork and didn’t realize there were to layers of paint in the box. If you pull the packing out that supports the top row of paint you’ll see the second row below! I don’t think many people will have that problem but just in case!

I am actually pretty impressed with these, I paint A LOT on a variety of surfaces. So far I have used these on canvas and wood - very vibrant and easy to paint on both. They seem to blend better/easier and do not dry nearly as quick compared to most of the other acrylics I have used. I would definitely give these a try!

This is not a professional set. It has enough colors and enough quantity to have kids play or beginners. pros: - easy to mix - lots of colors - Well packaged, no spilling or squeezing. cons: - light pigments (not thick, require several layers) We used it to teach the kids to mix colors and paint backgrounds, worked well. Recommended as kids/youth/beginners gift.

I have recently decided to branch out into acrylic and oil painting this year. I have done other artwork for quite some time in watercolor, colored pencils, and various other media. I have never done any paintings with acrylics or oils so I thought it would be good to collect paint and go from there. HOW THIS COMES This set of acrylics comes in a very sturdy large heavy box. Each paint is in a plastic form fitting tray. The paints have a flip top and are all sealed with a plastic lined foil seal. SIZE The tubes are very large in size. They give a lot of paint to use for many paintings. MIXING I had no problems mixing the reds with various other colors to get what I needed for this painting that I posted which I have not finished yet. PAINT TEXTURE The paint texture is pretty much perfect. This is not the craft paint you find at JoAnns. This is a more artist style paint where a little goes a long way. It is thick but not too thick. I find that I only have to dilute it with medium when I want a translucent color layer.

Years ago, I used to live around the corner from a very popular art supply store—it’s where all the local artists shopped—and their preferred brand for paint supplies was Art Whale. Finding it on the Zon was a nice treat for me and I couldn’t resist the bit of nostalgia as I quickly grabbed this kit. Comprised of 18 large tubes of acrylic paint, it’s a great starter kit for new artists and/or if you’re filling in gaps where you’ve run out. Whether you’re a prolific artist or just starting out, Art Whale is a great option for quality paints. These in particular have been put to great use with some canvas boards and stencils (I’m not THAT artistic and do need help) and I’m using these paints to make holiday presents this year. The colors are gorgeous, the paint goes on evenly without clotting (clogging?), and I really like them. The only other thing I’ll add is that given the size of the tubes, you really should be relatively prolific before the paints dry out. Definitely recommended.

My wife is new to using acrylic paints, and this is the first time we’ve ordered a set. She was pleased with how brilliant and vibrant the colors are. She has had a particular fondness of the results she can achieve from watercolors, but she wanted to try something different and perhaps even blend the two mediums, which she had success doing. For some reason she was under the impression that acrylic paints smell bad, but that was not the case here. There was virtually no detectable odor to these paints. As with watercolors, the ArtWhale acrylics are water-based, but I could not find any information addressing if they are toxic or not. The description on the box said these can be used on wood too. My wife has a wood painting project she will be embarking on soon, and I can update this review at a later time based on her success. She was impressed with the results she’s seen so far, and I’m glad we chose this set.

I did abstract acrylic paintings for years but my life changed rather dramatically a few years ago so I gave up painting & gave away all my paints. Life changed again & I find myself needing paint for a very different style of art - painted mason jars for a small farm stand. This set met my needs very nicely. The set comes with 18 tubes of colors in a nice, 2-tier box. The paints are a good quality acrylic, full bodied but not too thick. The colors are vibrant and each one mixes well. In the photo is a mason jar I painted using this set but mixed with an additive to give it a more chalky effect. It adhered to the glass perfectly. The set is currently priced at $49.80 which works out to be about $2.77 a tube. That's a great price compared to many fine art brands and even craft store brands. I would definitely recommend these paints.

I've tried out these paints on paper and canvas. They compare well with other tube acrylics I have used. They are highly-pigmented, smooth, and easy to use. They are not heavy-bodied, so if you want impasto effects, these wouldn't be the best choice. They aren't thin either, though. If you want transparent layers, it is easy to mix them with gloss acrylic medium on your palette. (This is also true of other standard acrylic brands in tubes.) The size of these tubes makes them perfect for taking out into the field or into a class. They are big enough for a few good-sized paintings, but not cumbersome. Once their inner shipping seal is broken, flip-top plastic lids make the tubes easy to open and close. Fine for students, teens, and children. These paints are also good for Plein air acrylic artists at any level. The price is great too.

It's so frustrating that most of the time your acrylic paint is going to be in tiny little .77 oz tubes. As many projects as I have going on around the house, there's just no way those things would last more than one project at best. Enter these beauties... Not only are they a much more convenient size, the color payoff is beautiful and they don't goop up and dry out quickly like the others tend to do. They're also easy to dilute if you need to and don't give you a horrible time by making a puddle of water on top of the puddle of paint. All around a blessing for those of us who can't hang with the little bitty low class tubes.

Did some rock paint and bottle paint with my kids during the Thanksgiving break. They had so much fun using this acrylic paint. The colors are nice and easy to apply. Not easy dry as expected since my young kids like several coats. Will buy again. It’s fun to spend time learning art with kids.

Great quality paint!!! Love how big the tubes are. Comes with a nice variety of basic colors on the top and unique colors on the bottom. I would definitely recommend these. Such great quality. Definitely worth it!!!!

I purchased these as a gift for my grandson, who has been using oils and frustrated with the drying times. They arrived in a sturdy, thick, 15” shrink wrapped cardboard box that will be useful for storage, and made wrapping a snap. The tubes are generous, which will allow for lots of experimentation. A delightful purchase.

These are great for crafting! My littles were able to use them to paint some really lovely Christmas crafts. They are very easy to mix to create new colors. The colors that were provided are really lovely and vibrant.

My daughter is an avid painter, and she loves these! The colors wires vibrant, and she was able to mix them really easily as well! She made some beautiful sunset paintings and the colors blend super well.

This set is great, and much larger than expected. The box is very nice and sturdy and contains two layers of paint. There is huge variety of color and the tubes are a decent size. I had a lot of fun painting with them yesterday.

The paints in this were very nice. It really comes with a lot. You get so many colors. You can create something very nice. The quality was pretty good. They all worked fine. It came with a nice case. We really like art. I would much prefer them doing something than watching something. It is so important for them to be able to use their creativity. It is nice because they can spend the time doing it. They are excited when they make something themselves. They love to make new art.

A great set to start out with. It gives you the chance to play around with colors, mixing new colors and getting the feel of how they blend as you begin to learn how to paint. Or if you are a seasoned painter, this is good for a little projects if you don't feel the large tubes are necessary.
